Ray & Kathy Tipton are co-founders of Big Sky Builders. Ray has a Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University and has been in the construction industry since 1982, primarily in remodeling and new home construction. Past President of the Bitterroot Building Industry Association, Ray has been active in the local and state building associations and a member of the national 'Builder 20 Club'. He has been involved with several community projects, has written a number of articles for construction industry publications, and has been asked to speak at numerous events and seminars teaching 'The Process of Home Construction', 'Universal Design Principles', and 'Green Building Concepts'. Kathy is the heart of Big Sky Builders and wears many hats in the performance of her duties. Along with her responsibilities as office administrator, she can be found answering phones, updating books, helping clients with interior design, helping keep jobs organized and clients updated, and making sure the office always looks great. She understands customer service as well as what it takes to get our clients projects completed.

 

Shawn, our oldest son, is a project supervisor and is responsible for overseeing certain jobsites. His goal every day is to make sure things get done correctly and on time. He is very organized and keeps everyone on their toes. Shawn knows how things should be done and is always concerned about the best interests of our homeowner clients. He is a natural problem solver and determines the most efficient methods to make sure his projects stay on time and on budget without ever compromising quality.

 

Caleb is our middle son and does all our estimating and scheduling. He also is very organized and understands the building process from beginning to end. He makes sure our clients know exactly what they are getting in their project and what it is going to cost. He also produces the documentation that the project supervisors need to make sure their projects are completed as expected and when expected. Caleb is also our very knowledgeable 'Tech Guy' who builds our computers, keeps them running smoothly, and is the 'go-to' guy when something doesn't work as expected.

 

Casey, our youngest son, is also a project supervisor who is in charge of some of the jobsites. Casey is the artist in our family and has a great eye and the ability to know how things should look before they are actually built. He is very detail oriented and demands the best from those that work around him. Casey is able to break down very complicated projects into manageable tasks that can be more easily accomplished without becoming overwhelmed. His projects usually take a little longer to complete but are showcases of craftsmanship.
