Big Sky Builders is a family-owned and operated custom home builder located in the Beautiful Bitterroot Valley. Our mission is to create exceptional homes that reflect our clients’ unique visions while providing a seamless and enjoyable building experience. At Big Sky Builders, we’ve pioneered the Beautiful Building Experience, which sets us apart from our competitors by focusing on empowering our clients with relevant information, clear communication, accurate budgeting, timely project completion, and impeccable craftsmanship.
History and Experience
Big Sky Builders has been proudly building dream homes in the Bitterroot Valley and Western Montana for more than 30 years. Founded by Ray and Kathy Tipton, Big Sky Builders has built a rock-solid reputation. They recognized and subsequently created processes to overcome the common issues clients experience during the home construction process, resulting in what we call “The Beautiful Building Experience”. Although the methods have changed, our goal of providing our clients with a Beautiful Building Experience began decades ago.
Casey grew up in the home-building industry, spending his afternoons and summer months working with Dad/Ray building homes. Shortly after graduating high school, he was leading crews of carpenters, doing everything from concrete work, framing, siding, roofing, interior trim, and more, gaining valuable hands-on experience from an early age. Already having decades of leadership experience in the company, a smooth and natural transition to Casey taking over the day-to-day operations took place in 2018. Ray and Kathy remain as directors and provide valuable consultation on an as-needed basis.

Casey Tipton
Casey is a dedicated and accomplished Senior Project Manager and partner at Big Sky Builders, bringing a wealth of experience and a keen eye for detail to every project. As a creative problem solver, Casey excels in finding innovative solutions to challenges that may arise during the home building process, ensuring a seamless experience for clients.
In addition to his role at Big Sky Builders, Casey has demonstrated a strong commitment to community service, having served on the board of directors for both the Bitterroot Building Industry Association (BBIA) and the local Lions Club. Through his involvement in these organizations, Casey has contributed his expertise and passion for the industry, while also working to make a positive impact in the community.
Outside of work, Casey enjoys spending quality time with his family and exploring the great outdoors through both camping trips and Jeeping adventures. He also enjoys working in the shop, where he can put his many skills to good use while expressing his creativity.
With a unique combination of professional achievements and a sincere passion for assisting clients in realizing their dream homes, Casey is an invaluable member of the Big Sky Builders team.
